installed DRL fog light for base V

As a base V owner, I always wanted to have decent fog lights.
I know fog lights are aesthetic, even fog is hard to see in my area, so solved with a cheap DRL.
I found really good DRLs at tmtuning.com but I didn't want to spend more than half price of a KDM headlight set for now, so decided to experiment with this.I have been testing them for a week. I love it for its price (less than $50). I might get real good ones with Audi look for over $300 when I got bored again though.

Interesting. How did you wire them?

There was a power source in the engine room relay box, which is on whenever the key is plugged and set to 'ON'.
It was connected to the parking light too in order to make it dim or off during the night.

Thanks. I really love the slimline one. It will fit V's tough curvature better. But that requires a specific bezel.... I guess you can make one with base's faux fog light bezel though.. I cut mine with a cutter. It was not that hard. Hopefully I can see yours so that I can copy it later!

I think he meant to say "if you get a chanCe, a how-to would be nice."

Curious to see close-up pictures of how you wired it, as well as the unit itself.

    Either way, nice job.

    I really love it!
I definitely need a how-to here. I am eager to do the same but have no knowledge of wiring it.

Mine looks different from Audi and MB.. Although it doesn't look luxurious like theirs, it looks nice and unique especially in the position of fog light.

As I promised, I took a bit of photos.

In the engine room, open the fuse box and connect + to left side of the red fuse (sorry it is upside down) and - goes to ground or chassis. I bought a LED dimmer with a remote switch ($7) at ebay, so I put it in the middle of the +/- lines.

If your DRL comes with On/off or dim line connected to parking light, tap the line to the parking light + which is at the bottom of the connector (green, at center).

one of the LED went into the faux bezel, so you cannot see it unfortunately. But not bad at all. I like the even number look.

    I bought this at amazon.

I have enjoyed 2.5 years with these without updating to better ones. Now it is time to say good bye since I need to return my car.
Although the pre-inspection guy did not even notice them - yeah, they were on! but that subtle! giving an original look lol - I don't wanna take a risk when return.

So, I am looking for the original bezel for the fog-light house for base models since I cut them.
If you upgraded your base model with new fog lights and did not throw the original bezel away, please shoot me a PM.
If you are a base model owner and interested in mine, please shoot me a PM. I can sell you the whole package including a remote controller.
