No debadge IMHO
Kudos to Hyundai for creating such a great car, and for coming up with a clever name
I love the design theme of 3 and/or triangular shapes
Reminds me of this
I plasti-dipped my Veloster badge. Going to do the Hyundai symbol too but I will have to debadge it first, cover with the spray and then rebadge the symbol.
Oh, guess you'd want to know the exterior colour - it's black. So, it actually looks debadged.
haha plasti-dip is a special spray paint that ends up being like rubberization...you can take it off too if you dont like it. I'm thinking of doing my wifes wheels because they are chewed up.
The plasti-dip finish is great. I will post pictures, (when I figure out how to) so you can see. But I like the "stealth-ish" look the badges get with the plasti-dip and I like the fact that I can take it off after.
how durable is plastidip? Would it come off in a carwash? And did you spray it right on the paint no problem? Im just paranoid of being left with a black square on my car lol.
the plasti-dip is durable. i finished doing the Veloster emblem (had a problem with the "H" above) but i have washed the car with a power washer and it did not come off.
No personal experience, but some guys on vwvortex do it as well, and afaik they spray directly onto the paint, and it just peels off. There's somesort of addidtive to make the product a bit flexible, allowing it to be peeled off the paint.
the images that haunt my nightmares are debadged cars with black rims, tacky wing spoilers, vtec stickers, plastic body cladding that has been glued on, and fart cannons of the most hideous nature.
i bought the veloster because it looks VERY good as it is.......i really hope it is a car for which owners will show some restraint when it comes to modifications.
debadging i always found the most offensive, though.
Funny when I was getting the wife's V tinted.. the guy asked me if I was going to debadge it.. Personally Unless is a really bad looking font I may consider but in the case of the V the Badge actually looks nice So for me is a NO on the debadge.
This thread is VERY relevant to my interests. I will be purchasing said plasti-dip on the double. Debadging, although I am planning to do a lot of modding to my car, will not happen.
Certainly. I'll be referencing someone else's DIY guide, as I have never done it before. But yep, I'd be happy to take pictures as I do it step-by-step.
Can anyone with proper knowledge confirm that this is the right stuff to buy?
Plasti-dip is fun to use, spray and forget pretty much. I did my Mazda3's rims, looks great. I was planning to get them powdercoated($400+), but instead I bought 4 cans of plasti-dip, cost me about $60 in the end.
Do you have any pics of the rims with the plasti-dip? I would love to see those! Very interested in doing that myself since its safe and very affordable..Thanks!
Car dealers put their badges on cars, too. I never let them. I always tell them I will let them stick their name on if they will knock another $1000 off the price since I will be driving an advertisement for them. But when it comes to the name of the car? I have to laugh that it is in the Ferrari font to begin with. Maybe the Veloster should have come up with its own special font -- though, if you are going to steal, then steal from the very best!
Guys please keep discussions clean. Try not to agitate other people. I let stuff slide alot, unless it becomes repetitive Thanks and I'm looking forward to the plastidip DYI. Might do that.. NO to de-badging !
