Test fitting turbo bumper on na

This week I will be taking a veloster turbo bumper off and test fitting on my Na. I will take pics and make sure all lines up. Also will let you guys and gals know if our Na fog harnesses fit the turbo foglights. Colors won't match lol but you guys will all get the idea. Hopefully by weekend we get it done.

Interesting, wonder about the rear splitter/exhaust too. By then you could prob just buy a turbo lol but good info for people who bought the na but like the turbo.

I do believe that crash bars are different iirc.

But yeah, there was this wet dream of mine to do this "facelift".

I think the harness will plug into either foglight. Not 100% sure tho.

I hope you realize he did not use a turbo front bumper, stuie only used the turbo grill and converted his NA V front bumper.

Yes. I will hopefully be doing whole bumper and checking wireing harnesses for fogs.

Yea Diane, that's a "hybrid" NA bumper with Turbo grille insert.. Not exactly de same.

And although there were some pictures about a Turbo front conversion, pictures of the process and end result never surfaced.

I could have sworn one of the Stuie threads had all the parts laid out from a turbo front end in it.
I never dug that deep since it wasn't on my RADAR as far as a "needed modification" and I can only see it causing more issues down then line when trying to sell.

[mod tiara] however that does point out that this thread should be down in Exterior with all the others of its ilk [/mod tiara]

I believe the picture you saw was this one posted by me actually.

It was part of that fraudulent website that was setting up front and rear "facelift" combos to turn NA to Turbos appearance-wise.

And please do reroute the thread to pertinent category if needed.

    Craig,

Im gonna let the body shop work it out for me as far as replacing everything. I know it would have been a good project to do but just gonna let the insurance take it over.

Not 100% sure on that Viper. That question remained unanswered when I was about to jump on the chance to do it.

Checking part numbers on the HMAService website could be a good place to verify. It's a pain to navigate on my phone tho. Give that a try, or maybe someone around here knows.

Haywood, you seem to have a good deal of experience and what not. I'm contemplating doing a bit of a "spot" repair on my bumper and possibly cover up some rock chips.

How would you proceed about "smoothing" out a scraped area and then painting and blending it?

Also what steps would you follow to cover up some rock chips as far as wet sanding it and stuff?

I won't bullsh!t ya, my expertise in not on painting, mostly body repairs n modifications.
These cars are new enough that the off the shelf paint match will be close enough.
A good trick on rock chips is to get a pack of matches, pull one out and use the frayed end as a brush. Build up the area of the chip then polish down to correct height.
As for a scrape, it's pretty tough. Only thing I would do is normal bodywork, then paint the whole bumper to match.
A good paint guy can blend in the middle of a panel. But I'm not that good.
    What color is the car?

Century White. No metallic or pearl whatsoever so that's why I'm a bit confident on taking on the challenge.

I'm thinking of using these spray cans offered by http://www.automotivetouchup.com

1 can color matched white and a can of clearcoat should suffice. The bit that is scrapped is the underside of the front bumper near the little bump going towards the middle of the bumper underneath the foglight area. Its a bit rough, it scraped against the pavement on a steep entryway 1 week into ownership. So was thinking of sanding down with 1000 grit then 2000 or so so it's as smooth as possible and the just spaying it while masking the rest of the area around it. Maybe leave a 3" area to spray over and "blend/feather" it. Then just clear coating it.

The chips actually scare me more. I was thinking of that same "toothpick" method but the wet sanding down to level and **** has me a pick scared that I'm going to polka dot the front bumper then.

    actually, that's a good location
the bend in the shape will actually help hide color mismatch with shadowing.
If you have a good body shop supply near you, they should probably be able to put some in a can cheaper then the internet folks. And no shipping. My local paint guy made me up some Vitamin C and it matched perfectly. You'll need both the color and a clear. Primer as well if it went deep enough.
