No, I changed mine over to carbon fiber and I just double checked my hood and hatch, as I have them stripped of all parts and the bottom is just as silver as the top, even where the hood pad was.
I now went the way of a carbonfiber hood about 30min ago
Here is some pics of the hatch...

I have to ask, are you sure it wasn't repainted? plug your VIN into the HMAservice.com site and it will tell you the shipped color.
Looking in the slit of the carpet under the passenger seat should also show the original color.
off to the the dark side
Its silver under the slit. Which is the color it should be. Gonna go to the dealer and ask them as well as look at other velosters. The white must be primer...way too noticeable.
When I worked at the big Toyota plant here in Ontario that makes the Corolla and Matrix, the cars were typically only fully painted and cleared on the outside and in the door jambs. Under the carpets, in the trunk and others areas the paint was very thin to non-existant and you could easily see the primer/sealent.
Its possible the Velo is painted in a similar manner or, they possible missed that spot and didnt see it during the final quality inspections.

You think they would paint it?
Something seems fishy here, my parts and the ones I saw at the dealer where all painted inside and out, no primer visible anywhere.
My silver V also is painted with a white-appearing color under the hood & engine compartment. I don't have a problem with it...it appears to be an approximate silver tone that lacks the metallics and, of course, the clearcoat. It's not an issue to me.
Hmm..mine is white so hard to tell. Although you could say there is no "shine" to some areas under there..
-- "Move along, nothing to see here" --
If it was just silver with no shine or clear that would be one thing. This is pure white. Very noticeable on a silver car. Gotta go to the dealer and compare.
Went to dealer to check other velosters. They only had a red one but it had same color as car underneath. Then asked service guy and showed him and he had the nerve to tell me that white was actually silver before the clear coat. lol.
I got upset and just left. Im thinking about going to the actual dealer I bought the car from and complaining but it may not be worth it. Might just go get some spray paint matched online and do it myself. Ugh.
Good news though, I got my MPG reimbursement card today. Says they will replenish same card as I come into check miles...but the card expires 11/13. lol.

That "could" be possible. The clearcoat itself might have a finish to it that make it look different. I just looked in the trunk of my red Genesis and unfinsihed areas look like a totally different shade of red.

Its still worth investigating if its was done incorrectly though.

on my BRV, its shiny slightly metallic red on top and a shiny, but less metallic red on the bottom. doesn't really matter to me.

The color under the slit under the pass seat is silver metallic with no clear. Big difference in color. Plus there are other parts under the hatch that are silver metallic but not clear coated. That service dude was off his rocker imo.
To me, this white is the primer that they didnt spray with any silver at all. Horrible job imo. Havent decided if Im gonna waste my time at the dealer I bought my car at though. Might be faster just to spray it myself. Shouldnt take more than a couple of coats. Not gonna clear it anyway.
Did look at a silver elantra GTs hatch. It had the same white but was ALMOST all covered in the silver mettalic but it was not cleared. Still could see parts that were white though. Just no where near as bad as mine. Might not even notice it if you were not looking for it.
Im betting this is an issue on most if not all SILVER hyundais. Some worse than others...like mine for instance.

I wondering if maybe Hyundai uses a white base coat then applies the silver over it. Much like a tinted primer you would paint with.
We need some more silver owners to reply lol.

I took off the plastic parts on underside of hatch and behind the left and right its almost all white where the sheet metal body of hatch touches sheet metal of car body. Behind the middles ones its just like the outside of car (well most of it.) I even closed the hatch and put my finger where the hinge area meets the weatherstripping. THen opened....exactly where it is white.
Its obvious they painted this car with the hatch on and closed but no glass and plastic inerior trim parts.
The middle parts got a lot of silver because there was no glass. The parts where it was body to body got no silver at all. Ie..most of the hinge area and the left and right sides.
Not sure if they paint them all like this but it is weird that a red one would have red in that hinge area (not cleared) and I would have white. I dont see how they could get red in those areas with the hatch completely closed.
